Hedging

Hedges

TLP Landscapes hold in stock various types of pot grown hedging, mainly hardy evergreens which are ideally suited to Guernsey’s climate.

The advantages of pot grown hedging are that they can be planted at any time of year, except in severe frost, and have a high success rate as the roots are continuously protected by the pot, only being disturbed if they require transplanting to a larger container as they grow.

Viewing is available by appointment, please contact us on 01481 257494 to arrange or email info@tlplandscapes.com.  If you can’t see what you want, please do contact us as we are able to source plants to order from our excellent local and UK suppliers.

Euonymus japonicus

Useful for coastal planting (even very windy and cold coastal situations) and forms a lovely lush dark green hedge. It’s good in all soils but the wettest. Easy maintenance. Tough mid to dark green leaves which are quite glossy, oval shaped and with a serated (but not prickly) edge.

Will grow to 2m but is very tolerant of clipping so it can just as easily be kept at a more moderate height.

Griselinia Littoralis

Griselinia is a dense evergreen hedge plant with soft, glossy apple green leaves on soft green stems. It does well when trimmed to shape and quickly establishes a mature hedge.

Its growth rate is average at approx. 30cm p.a. and it is easy to trim so it’s a great low maintenance evergreen hedging plant (though all hedges need maintenance!). Griselinia prefers full sun and a light, well-drained soil and is one of the most suitable species for seaside gardens.

Euonymus japonicus ‘Green Rocket’

‘Green Rocket’ is a dark green hedging plant with glossy, oval shaped leaves. The new growth is a lime green colour making a great contrast.  A small hedge, growing to 1.2mts tall and 90cm wide in approximately 10 year, it is also good for topiary cone and planter boxes.

It is the hardy alternative to English Box.
